Sewing For Kids
Tie Dye Diva Open Back Top
11:46 AM
So the Open Back top is a pretty classic style that I'm sure even some of our grandmothers may have made for their children. This one closes in the back with buttons or snaps and is fully reversible.
Tie Dye Diva is pretty well known for her classic children's styling and this is no exception. There are NO layers in this pattern, but I had no problem following the lines for my daughters specific size (size 3).
All pieces fit together beautifully and I had no problems with anything lining up.
If you have never made a reversible garment, let me advise you that they can be a little tricky. You will probably feel like you're doing it wrong. :) You will need to hand stitch the opening closed, but that's honestly the hardest part of the actual sewing.
1 important note. Always, ALWAYS follow the directions for order of construction. I was in such a rush to finish that I put the snaps on BEFORE I did the top stitching. Now there is no room to top stitch nicely. And you can't just take the snaps off, so I guess this will never get top stitched. :/
Overall, really good quick sew and great way to fill in a wardrobe with several different looks very quickly.
