SSWD: Love Notions Sabrina Slims
3:59 PMWelcome back for the 3rd garment in my Seasonal Sew Wardrobe: Destination thanks to Sew Alongs and Sewing Contests.
If you're a member of the group and take a look at my photo album, you'll see I have a denim with silver hearts pair of Love Notions Sabrina Slims. I decided NOT to share those with you. Why? Because on Monday I found the most amazing fleece backed poly/lycra fabric. I knew that it was destined to be Sabrina Slims, so I whipped these up on Tuesday. They're fuzzy, warm and full of happiness. Also, they feel like I'm wearing pajamas!
So let's get down to the review. To get my pattern fitted for me, I started out with a straight size 6 with a 28" inseam. I know the pattern includes 3 hem lengths, but I also know that I would get a better fit if I adjusted the lengths on the entire leg of the pattern. I remove 1" at the shorten/lengthen line AND 1" about 1/2" below the crotch hook.
My next adjustment was to remove about 2" off the back center as it was gapping. I adjusted the waist band to fit, but I've opted to make yoga band pants instead. That way as I continue to lose weight, I can just add a piece of elastic in the band.
My final adjustment was to center the pockets, because removing 2" off the center back bumped the pockets into my butt crack... o.O
And then, voila, a masterpiece. Up until now, I've really just been wearing leggings, because they're easy to make and easy to wear. The Sabrina Slims are definitely a game changer! These pants are no harder to wear than my leggings and they make my butt look great. Also, I can now justify making shirt length tops, which saves me fabric.
For those wondering. My shirt is the Romance Raglan by Wild Blume. And a last seed of wisdom. Don't wear your Sabrina Slims with your Cheeky Chonies. The fabric from your pockets moves around and feels REALLY strange.
See you tomorrow for more awesomeness!
