Choosing colors, take 2
1:37 PMOver in Capsule Wardrobe Sew Along, there was shared yet another way of determining "colors" for your clothes.
For the full tutorial, you can click here and watch the youtube video.
This method uses an app. I used "color grab" which is an android app. You basically take a photo of the inside of your arm. For the record, this is definitely a minimalist method, as the inside of my arm is actually a bit lighter than my actual face. But the goal is to get a general sense of your skin's undertones and this will definitely achieve that.
According to this vlogger's method, you take a photo of your skin tone. And then you should not wear the main color of your skin tone or its complement.
If you want to follow along, my color number is: rgb: 209: 171, 145 It is "tan". That is clearly not a surprise. What is a surprise is that it is in the "orange" family. Hmm... That means I am in the same color family as the lady from the you tube video.
According to the above video, that means I should wear Red and Yellow. Never Orange and never blue. Assuming that pink falls under shades of red, I will agree. But yellow is a 100% never ever ever color for me. And blue? I LOVE blue. And I certainly wouldn't say blue makes me look ill or bad.
<sigh>
Yet another waste of time? Perhaps. I'm starting to think this whole color thing is a bunch of phooey.

"I'm starting to think this whole color thing is a bunch of phooey." I've always gone with wear what makes you the happiest. If I wear yellow near my face, I look sick; that doesn't make me happy. But I can wear a yellow skirt or mustard pants and be happy. I love green, not because its the Pantone color for spring but because it makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteI got Eunry (brown-orange) and it matched me with browns of all shades, some mint green and some dirty pinks.. Dont think i own any kind of brown anything in my wardrobe,mint green or dirty pink. Musta been i've been shopping for the wrong colors all my life (oh, noes!). Instead, i did notice navy blue doesnt look as good as good as red or yellow so there is some truth to this "wear the colors that compliment your skin to look better" thing. Still not very convinced on not wearing orange though.
