Spring Into Color, a Sewing By Ti Blog Tour
5:00 AMIt is hard to believe, but winter is almost over. OK, maybe not for us northerners that are expecting snow through May or even June, but we're more than half way. And my favorite part about spring is transitioning to my spring wardrobe!
So without further ado, I present:
If you're a long time reader, you might remember that last year we also did a color theme for our March Tour. Just like last year, we are focusing on the Pantone Spring 2018 color chart.
The cool thing about this year, is that while we have the standard 12 colors of the season, we get a bonus 4 neutrals. But what does all of this mean?
So, Pantone picks out 12 colors that appear to be focused on this year on the runway. Whatever the "designers" seem to be focusing on, those are the colors that get picked. So if you're out shopping, these colors are going to be easier to find than other colors. That doesn't mean other colors aren't available. Only that these are more "popular".
But as a seamstress, how does this effect you? In general, it should be easier to find these colors in large scale fabric shops because the largest shops take their cues from the runway. Which makes sense, because seamstresses want their clothing to appear to be seamless to the runway. No one wants to be accused of looking "homemade!"
The challenge here comes in finding these colors in the smaller shops. Many of those shops pick out their own color ways. And while some take cues from Pantone and the Runway, others don't. But rest assured, even the most unique of shops will be likely to be carrying at least a few of these colors.
And so, that was the challenge given to this months' bloggers. Find this years colors in your stash or fabric shops. Use them to assemble an amazing look that has you ready to think spring! Ready to dive in?
