Being here in Wyoming means I have access to an additional 5 little girls to sew for! And that means I have access to a baby to sew for. I LOVE baby sews. They use such tiny amounts of fabric and what is cuter than little baby clothes?! AND AND, so many designers have free patterns for tiny babies. Today I'm trying out the FREE Baby Ringer Onesie by Shwin and Shwin.
My niece is just 2 months old, but at 12 lbs is wearing 3-6 months onesies. I don't have my snap press with me, so rather than a full onesie, I made a tiny little shirt by removing the snap area and just hemming the shirt. I'll definitely be making onesies once I've got access to my snap press again.
The armhole on this pattern is a dolman, but the side seam is cut in a sharp 90 degree angle. If you follow the side seam, you'll need to cut a small notch into the side seam to allow the arm to move. Not a big deal.
But here's the real thing I learned here, and it has nothing to do with sewing or the pattern. Getting photos of babies is HARD. When I did these photos, my niece still hadn't yet done the whole smiling thing. Perhaps I should have waited until she fell asleep or something. Apparently, I still have a lot to learn. Thankfully babies don't mind being guinea pigs.
