Sew Americana 2017

I am so excited to be joining Wild and Wanderful for my second year in the Sew Americana Tour. It is so fun to have this nice easy tour inspiration.
I knew as soon as I signed up what I needed. The Simple Life Pattern Company Isla. I don't remember, when, where or how I saw it, but I knew they had a star add on and it was exactly what this pattern needed. If you need the star add on, you can find it in their facebook group. I received the Isla as part of this tour. All opinions remain my own.
The super cute back cut outs are made by using a fully lined bodice. The necklines are fully enclosed and you use the burrito method to finish the sleeveless armhole. This makes for a very nicely finished inside for those that are more sensitive to seams.
The best thing about having 3 girls is I can sew up a ton of different options to share with you! So in total I have the high low dress with empire bodice on my youngest, the drop waist dress on my middle daughter and the Empire Waist with the "tunic skirt" that turned into a top for my eldest. It was really fun to try all these options and know that there were even more included! My one bit of advice is to definitely go by the size chart for width, or your bodice will not fit well with the cut out.
For fabric, of course, I grabbed from my Simply By Ti Shop. This dress is perfect in cotton lycra and I was so happy to use up some of my scraps of stretch lace. Simply By Ti has red and cobalt in rayon spandex, stretch lace and cotton lycra, as well as white lace and french terry. That doesn't even include my collection of prints! And of course that's just our fabrics that fit in the "Americana" theme.
We had so much fun taking these photos at our local park (with its fabulous Statue of Liberty). I wanted to create a theme, but after a while, it was just one fabulous photo after the next. So you get to see them all! Don't forget to check out all the awesome makes on the tour!

I love all three of your Islas, Ti! I can't pick one version that I like more than the others. The star cutout in the back is fantastic and your girls are just beautiful. (They get it from their Momma!)
ReplyDeleteThe Islas turned out so nicely! I love the cutouts in the back! Bravo for conquering the burrito roll method - I've tried and failed several times! Beautiful projects!
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! And I love the cut outs. I think I'll have to do these at some point!
ReplyDeleteI love a good lace overlay. All your options used - !! I love that you can show us so many looks, they're all beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love how they are all different but the stars in the back bring them all together. Awesome job, Ti!
ReplyDeleteThey look so cute all together and love the star cutouts on the back!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute dresses!! I'm pretty sure that the Isla is my favorite little girl's knit dress pattern - I need to venture out and try other versions of it like you did!
ReplyDeleteKids seems to have really fun out there, such activities should happen more often for kids so that they can explore and learn new things. Thank you for sharing your moments with us
