Halla Stardust Tank

The warm weather here in Cheyenne Wyoming has me thinking SUMMER! There's still a REALLY good chance we'll get hit with a foot or more of snow between now and June 1st, but I'll take the nice weather while we have it.

So as I was thinking warm weather thoughts, I went on the lookout for a semi fitted tank. I wanted something that I could pair with skinny jeans, capri leggings or just a little more ease than my normally super fitted Patterns for Pirates Layer Me Up. I COULD have sized up the LMU. But I didn't want to have to keep changing pieces until I got it right. I COULD have bought the Patterns for Pirates Essentials Tank. It really has everything I was looking for (and a LOT of other options too). But, it cost money, and I'm trying SO hard not to buy more patterns.

But, not buying patterns isn't the same as not getting NEW patterns, because FREE! So at the recommendation of the ladies in the Capsule Wardrobe Sew Along Facebook Group, I decided to try out the Halla Stardust Tank Top. You can grab your own copy by using the coupon code in the Halla Facebook Group.

Out of pure laziness, I made the size 10/12 upper body to waist and then blended to a 6/8 in the hips. I COULD have made the size 6/8, done a full bust adjustment, blended out for my waist and finished with a 6/8 waist. But this method definitely sounded faster. 😏

I removed 1/2" above the bust and 1" at the waist. I LOVE the way they mark the bust, waist and hips, as it makes it VERY easy to be sure that your lengths match up. The pattern also includes a ruler at each of these points, so that you can more easily blend sizes.

As you can see, the size 10/12 fits very well in the shoulder, however it does not cover my bra straps. I could rotate the shoulder out, or just add to the shoulder width since it is only a tank top. Out of laziness, I might just call it good enough. Summer basically equals exposed bra straps (in my opinion).

The bust fits AMAZINGLY well without wrinkling. It drapes nicely around the waist and sits just right on the hips. This is the tank option, and after adjustments hits me right at my high hip. That is exactly where I like to wear my tops. Alternatively, you can make a banded top or a tunic length tank too!

This is a soft rayon spandex with great recovery from Simply By Ti. The Cotton Lycra Bands are olive and also from Simply By Ti. I am wearing a black bra underneath and there is zero peek through, not even on the lighter colored areas. I definitely need an entire stack of these for summer!
