Wondering how my self induced #summerofnopants is going? Surprisingly great! But I have of course made some important observations. So let's see if I can help you love dresses too!

I run into 2 problems when it comes to wanting to wear dresses.

Problem #1 is laziness. Shaving my legs all the time sucks the life out of me. The cure for that is maxi dresses. Make them. Wear them. They're like pants, except a million times better because people think you look put together, but they don't actually need to know what is hiding under your skirt.

Problem #2 is that I LOVE short skirts. And my legs agree. They look great in short skirts. You know what doesn't agree? My actual life.

Being a busy mom of 3, means I often find myself kneeling in public places helping a child (or 2 or three) navigate this world. Whether it is a scraped knee, tying a shoelace or giving a hug, I am always squatting down to help them do something. And that's just the kids. Add in the lovely Wyoming wind and you can now cue wardrobe malfunction all day, every day. It doesn't even have to be a short skirt.

Now I know some people wear shorties under their dresses. And the idea of wearing underwear AND shorties makes me sweat. And I know some people don't wear underwear under their shorties, but that just doesn't work for me. The Stitch Upon A Time Women's Boxerwear are the perfect blend of shorties plus underwear.

The Boxerwear have 2 rise lengths, 2 hem lengths, and you can finish the hems with bands or by turning under. I have a long front rise and shorter back rise. So I took the best of both worlds and did a high front but low back. These are the longer hem length, but for functional purposes, I'll likely make all the rest with the shorter hem. I made a straight size medium, but will likely use the large hem bands next time, as these are a bit snug on my leg. BUT, please note, my quads are big and are mostly muscle. So they don't like being compressed.

I used rayon spandex for the Simply By Ti shop for the body and cotton lycra for the bands and liner. I'm not sure how well rayon spandex will hold up over time, but they are by far the most comfy undies I own. Rayon Spandex is not super opaque so I won't be sharing butt shots. And yes, I took these photos in my front yard. No I am not embarrassed. But yes, I worked quickly and thankfully no neighbors saw me to ask any weird questions. You're welcome.

I can't wait to try my under armour wicking fabrics next! I'm sure I'll have an entire drawer worth of Boxerwear in no time.

  4. I didn't know about this pattern, I am going to have to check it out! We live in Northern Colorado and get lots of your excess WY winds, these would be great for wearing under my dresses for modesty too!
