I may be a little late to the game (I don't normally work Saturdays or Sundays), but I'm excited to be participating in One Week, One Pattern, hosted by Cinderellis Sews.

One Week One Pattern really embraces how I dress (which is a little disturbing). I love taking a tried and true pattern and not having to mess with muslining. And while I had plans to make enough Greenstyle Laurels to hit my full 7 days I just didn't quite have time. So I only have 5, not 7. That's ok though. :) I'll save those for another time.

When I sifted through my closets, drawers and finally washed all the laundry, I realized I already had over 7 Patterns for Pirates Layer Me Ups.

A full run down of 7 of my favorite LMU's:

Sleeveless tunic with hem.

Sleeveless tunic with band.

Short sleeve tunic with band.

Long sleeve t-shirt with hem

Gathered 3/4 sleeve t-shirt with hem.

LMU bodice with short sleeves mashed with Boundless skirt

Crossover hack LMU bodice with short sleeves and Boundless skirt. (I actually have 2 of these)

And, now that I'm pregnant I have the maternity add on too.

I LOVE the LMU because:
-P4P drafts for a larger cup size so I don't need to do a full bust adjustment (or as big of one now that pregnancy has made my bust size even bigger).
-Tunic means full butt coverage so perfect for leggings. I am not knocking anyone's definition of tunic, just saying I like the longer, full coverage.
-There are plenty of options to make LMU's without hacking anything. By just following the pattern and no hacks you could have 4 sleeve lengths and 4 different hems. On its own that makes 16 different options.

If you play with necklines, you could easily do a v-neck or crossover to make a few different necklines. You can extend the hem to make a mini or knee length dress. OR you can hack in the boundless skirt like I did.

I actually have 2 posts on my blog with the LMU already. Both of which got purged when I was picking my absolute favorites before the move from New Jersey.
-The Perfect T-shirt
-P4P LMU And Sew Straight and Gather Uptown Downtown

And before you go saying, "But you're supposed to wear these all this week!" The weather here in Central Wyoming is VERY variable. One day may be 60 another 85. It keeps things fun. ;) So yes, I can (and will) wear these all this week! What's your favorite pattern?

  1. Love the variety of tops you've made! I wouldn't think they were all from the same pattern without you telling me that!
