Confession, this is my first time sewing up a PAB Women's pattern. I've sewn tons of her kids patterns though, so I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong (but in a good way).

PAB includes one of the best size charts I've ever had the pleasure to sew with. In this case, it included, bust, waist, high hip and arm circumference. With my skinny stick arms it was great to be able to check and see that I shouldn't adjust the arm hole at all to achieve the correct fit. I imagine I'm not the only one to have this problem, else she wouldn't include arm measurements in her chart. :)

Now I cheated here, a LOT with my full bust adjustment. Rather than doing a real adjustment, I used the way the pattern was layered to add a 1/2" to the full bust measurement. I don't know if this was done on purpose, but the layering makes it easy to make the center front wider, which means that an FBA is super simple (as long as you don't mind cheating). I did redraw the neckline and side seam so that the fit would be consistent. I'm not really sure how successful my method was, but if I can take a short cut, I will!

I did NOT take the pattern up at the high bust. From looking at the pattern, I could tell most of the "bust" area was included above the armscye and I knew I didn't want to shorten the armscye. I did shorten at the lengthen/shorten line by about 1".

I did not use the neckband pattern piece from the pattern. #1- because I had changed the neckline, so It wouldn't fit. #2- because I'm on this new kick of binding rather than banding my necklines. My binding did NOT change the fit of the neckline.
I just want to take a minute to talk about this fabric because it is really super fun. I got it from Urban Rag Trader on Etsy (and they're still honoring my coupon code from earlier this month through the end of APRIL!). For the record, this was among the fabrics I paid for, not a sponsored fabric. The fabric is a denim blue jersey mashed in between some cream jersey that looks and acts like it is shirred. It has amazing stretch. My one complaint is that the shirred area will unravel so you do have to finish the seams, but that's what sergers are for, right?! The coupon code will save you 20% off of their already amazingly low prices. Coupon code: happyeaster
Back to the pattern review. Do I recommend this pattern for an inverted triangle? Yes. It has a slimmer fit and no bat wings (those don't do us any justice). It is comfy, and stylish at the same time. I only wish that the neckband measurements were written in a chart on the pattern rather than a pattern piece. That said, it wouldn't have done me any good, so it isn't a big deal. And the best part is, I've got a coupon code for you to get your copy of the Peekaboo Sunkissed Tee for 15%off the Sunkissed Tee AND/OR the maternity add on. Coupon code: sun15

  2. Love it! But, you already know how I feel about stripes. Ha! What makes you want to do binding instead of bands? Do you prefer the way it looks?

    1. Binding means no measuring. Since I always change the neckline, I have to remeasure the opening and then do math, etc. if I want a band. This saves me a step. :)
