Today is the first post in my 40 garments in 40 days series and this is going to be HUGE. Every Tuesday and Wednesday for the next 6 weeks (42 days) I will have a blog post with giveaways. EVERY SINGLE POST. Each week will showcase 7 garments mixed and matched to create little mini capsules. As we go along I will be showing you how I've used all PDF patterns to create a stylish wardrobe for my daughter. You'll notice that each week has a few pieces that mix and match. As we go along, you'll see that even more pieces can be used interchangeably. I'll do my best to share little sudoku's of how all these pieces work together.

I've got so many giveaways that you'll want to check in every post, so don't miss any. To keep you up to date, the end of each post will include a series of links back to all the other posts. Today is day one, so no links. But be sure to check in tomorrow.

Ok, so what have we got in week 1?
Bella Sunshine Designs Bow Tie Leggings
Hailey Bug's Closet Perfect Puzzle Set
Jocole Circle Flounce Dress
Patterns for Pirates Jolly Rogger Raglan
Rabbit Rabbit Creations Petal Shorts
and a nice freebie from Rebel and Malice, the Paper Bag Skirt.

To keep any 1 post from getting bogged down with too many photos, we'll be splitting these up. So today, We've got:
Sponsor of the day, Hailey Bug's Closet Perfect Puzzle Set as a drop waist circle skirt dress.

I'm really happy to have Hailey Bug's Closet as a sponsor today. I've sewn up no less than 100 HBC PPS and I've blogged a few of them too. You can read those here:
HBC PPS
HBC PPS Take 2
HBC PPS Take 3

This is the perfect dress for my girls, but it isn't just a dress! The tutorial includes options for making this as a drop waist skirt too. Combine all the other options in the pattern and you've got a great pattern. One lucky reader will get a free copy of the Hailey Bug's Closet Perfect Puzzle Set! And don't forget to stop back tomorrow because I'll be showing you another version of the HBC PPS too!

Jocole's Circle Flounce Dress

What can I say, I LOVE Jocole. The patterns are the perfect bases for building wardrobes. You're going to see a lot of Jocle here. Mostly because I was trying to do this series with patterns I mostly already owned. But this? I didn't expect this. Seriously, how amazing does this look. The bodice is made from some left over denim I had from a project. This stuff is the super firm, real cowboy type stuff. The amazing drape of the skirt is from a bargain bin knit from Walmart. They looked pretty awesome in my head but this is way better than my imagination. Please note that I did NOT lengthen the skirt at all. The extra length happened strictly from the stretch of the fabric. I'm so glad the drape looks so amazing.

Sponsor of the day, Patterns for Pirates Jolly Roger Raglan

If you read my blog even semi regularly, then you already know that Patterns for Pirates is one of my absolute favorites. The fit of her designs for me are just spot on. So it should come as no surprise that I'm a fan of her kids stuff too! Now, why do I love this pattern? Because P4P drafts a longer shirt. Seriously, that's why i love it. I hate having to remake my kids shirts every 2-3 weeks because they grew taller and now when they lift their arms up you see their belly buttons. I love that her tunics cover your butt and the waist bands that she includes on the patterns helps keep my kids covered as they're climbing across the monkey bars. This is one of the earlier designs, so it comes with less features than some of the others, but the little triangle cut out and color blocked sleeves made for the perfect shirt. Best part is, I've got a 2 pack of patterns to give away this week!

Rebel and Malice Paper Bag Skirt

When you're doing a series THIS big, you need to cut some corners. You need a few quick sews to keep you from pulling your hair out and freaking out about deadlines. This is the skirt you would grab when you need a quick birthday gift or a matching skirt and are low on time. This skirt is fun, cute, fast AND reversible. And these shoes! I LOVE these shoes. I was going to buy the exact same pair for me, but they didn't have my size. :( I'm going to keep looking though!

I have to admit, my daughter's insistence on pairing this shirt with her raglan tee isn't my favorite. But she's 7, who am I to tell her what fashion is? She likes it, and it works for me.

On to the raffles! You will find your raffle copter below with all the deets. Check back tomorrow for more patterns, more reviews and more chances to win patterns. Good luck!

  3. Love the looks. Cant wait to see the reat of the series.

The flounce dress really is adorable! Dress it up with cute shoes or dress it cute with some cowgirl boots, love it.

The reversible skirt is ingenious, especially for kids. If your out and she spills something on herself you can do a quick reverse and good as new til you get home. Most of the crisis will be averted, lol.

What's not to like about "Converse" or lookalikes? Everyone should have at least one pair in their shoe collection.

  11. I love a good raglan shirt, and those minky sleeves are so darned cute. I have to lengthen every t-shirt I make for my grands. Definitely going to give this pattern a try. The Hailey Bug dress is exactly what I've been looking for for a dress for my granddaughter, too! I also love the Jocole dress and the Paper Bag skirt. I can't possibly pick a favorite
